Wedding Catering at Knowsley Hall

Bringing thoughtful food and seamless service to a spectacular wedding setting
There are some venues that make an impression from the moment you arrive, and Knowsley Hall is certainly one of them. For this beautiful summer wedding, the Fork & Field team had the pleasure of providing food, drinks and service throughout the celebrations, creating an experience designed to complement the grandeur of the setting.
From canapés and drinks on arrival through to a three-course wedding breakfast and relaxed evening food, our team was there throughout the day to make sure each part flowed effortlessly into the next.
As an experienced Cheshire caterer, we know that great wedding catering is about far more than what arrives on the plate. It’s about timing, presentation, attentive service and working closely with the venue and wider supplier team to bring every element together.
Welcoming guests to Knowsley Hall
After the church ceremony, guests arrived at Knowsley Hall ready for the celebrations to start.
We served the drinks reception from the Grand Staircase, before guests made their way onto the terrace, where live music, outdoor games and mini golf waited. The drinks service included Prosecco, bottled beer and a non-alcoholic sparkling elderflower option, as well as a water station. As the couple wanted to add a personal touch, there was also a gin bar which provided a further selection of drinks and cocktails.
To pair with the drinks, we served a selection of canapés including chicken and herb terrine with lemon aioli, pea, spinach and ricotta arancini, and beef fillet with rosemary and garlic focaccia, horseradish mayonnaise and parsnip ribbon.
Bespoke canapé alternatives were also prepared to accommodate different dietary requirements, ensuring that all guests could enjoy the occasion without the food feeling like an afterthought.
A three-course wedding breakfast in the State Dining Room
The wedding breakfast took place in Knowsley Hall’s State Dining Room, with a long top table positioned in the bay window and round tables arranged throughout the room.
Our team provided the crockery, cutlery and glassware and managed the food and drinks service throughout the meal. Each guest table had its own dedicated wine waiter, helping to create the attentive and polished style of service that suited the surroundings.
The three-course menu began with bruschetta topped with sun-blushed tomato, bocconcini, basil and garlic pesto and balsamic gel.
For the main course, guests enjoyed 14-hour slow-cooked beef with horseradish creamed potato, parsnip purée, honey-glazed root vegetables, green beans, charred onion and red wine jus. Vegetarian and other dietary alternatives were individually catered for, including sweet potato and kale pie and seared chicken dishes.
Dessert brought a suitably indulgent finish with sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch sauce, vanilla bean ice cream, cinder toffee shards and fresh strawberries, followed by tea, coffee and petit fours.
With a range of allergies, intolerances and dietary preferences to accommodate across the guest list, careful planning was an important part of the day. From gluten-free and dairy-free requirements to vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, our team planned suitable dishes throughout the menu.
Wedding catering that keeps the whole day moving
At Fork & Field, we know that good wedding catering isn’t limited to preparing and serving a menu. Behind every couple’s dream wedding is careful co-ordination between the venue, caterers, entertainment and other suppliers.
At Knowsley Hall, our team was involved throughout the celebrations. We welcomed guests, coordinated seating for the wedding breakfast, announced the newlyweds into the State Dining Room and later introduced the speeches. We also managed drinks service during the meal before helping the day transition into the evening celebrations.
These details might happen quietly in the background, but they're an important part of creating a day that feels relaxed for the couple and their guests.
From wedding breakfast to evening street food
As we moved into the evening reception, the atmosphere became more relaxed and so did the food.
We served street food including beer-battered fish goujons with triple-cooked chips, caper mayonnaise, lemon and dill, alongside burgers and chips. Dietary options included Thai green sweet potato curry with quinoa and chickpeas, and chickpea and falafel wraps with lemon aioli.
It meant the food evolved naturally with the day, moving from elegant canapés and a carefully served three-course wedding breakfast to something informal that guests could enjoy between dancing and celebrating.
